On 17 January 2025, ICMPD participated in the opening conference “Pathways to Progress: Germany–Ukraine Dialogues on the Rule of Law for EU Accession.”
The event convened key stakeholders to discuss Ukraine’s progress in strengthening the rule of law and upholding fundamental values under martial law, with the support of Germany and other European partners.
The programme focused on electoral democracy, judicial reform, and migration, while also identifying additional priority areas for future dialogue.
On the margins of the conference, the ICMPD team held a bilateral meeting with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Unity of Ukraine, Mr Oleksiy Chernyshov, to discuss potential cooperation and joint initiatives aimed at supporting policy development, technical assistance, and capacity building for Ukraine.
